After hours movement .. What causes it ?

i have never understood or even tried for that matter to find out what causes stocks to move after hours.

i see a stock gap up several points and wonder what caused it.

you cant buy and sell stocks after hours , so what or who is causing these moves ?

i realize it is probably a basic thing , but i have never tried to find out.

sure there is after hours trading..........

talk with your brokerage firm, you simply have to have your account approved for after hours trading........

NEWS, companies report most of their news before or after the market closes. Mainly it's the earnings.

i dont trade stocks at the moment WNO........ i assume after hours trading is done online............ not sure how long brokers stay in office.....

when i trade the emini sp overnight, i put stops in or can call the floor desk myself.........

pre market starts at 8am for stocks. after hours I think it is until 630 pm.

regular trading is 930-4pm.

Your at the mercy of the ECN's after 4pm. The spreads widen, crazy shit happens, bad fills, cant get out and have to hold. PLus a company reporting earnings can have great financials only to see the stock tumble. It is really a crap shoot.

Trading after hours is really nuts. I wouldnt do it with someone else's money.
